Finding a mentor

SoLa I Can's mentorship program is designed to engage youth and set them on a positive path for their personal and professional lives.

We match South LA youth with a passionate volunteer  By simply doing fun and interesting activities together, mentors can help mentees improve academics, improve their behavioral and emotional health, and positively change the course of a youth's life.

Volunteer mentors are matched 1-to-1 with a youth, ages 8-17, living in South Los Angeles. Our program includes either a 1 year or 6 month commitment to ensure youth develop a long-term, trusting relationship with their mentor.

Friendships are carefully matched according to interests, hobbies, and skills.

The goal is to engage and enroll in teens and young adults in programs that will set them on a positive path for their personal and professional lives. This engagement is especially difficult in under-served communities with lack of resources and opportunities. In order to effectively engage the youth in our community, we need to create programs and opportunities that they are interested and provide the space and support to support their positive growth. This support will be provided to ensure our youth learn new skills that and provide the track for them to succeed in any endeavor they pursue.
